Unknown at this time but three factors should help narrow it down. A search of 2 Knox and 2 Joslyn catalogs has not revealed a stock number of 3-8157. The address of "Knoxville 1, Tenn." indicates a manufacturing date before zip codes and two letter state abbreviations. The wireholder shown in the picture had a long span of use but finding its introductory date would help.
