A.O. Austin graduates from Leland Stanford University and starts working for Pacific Gas & Electric of California.  He is sent east to serve as an insulator inspector.
1906
Austin leaves P.G. & E. and starts working for Lima Insulator Co., Lima, New York
1908
The Lima plant burns down.  Austin goes to work for Ohio Brass, Barberton, Ohio in the insulator division.

A.O. Austin leaves Ohio Brass and starts A.O. Austin, Inc. in Barberton, Ohio
1969
After Austin dies, Decca Records acquires A.O. Austin, Inc. for its Navigation Division.  Design and production facilities are moved from Barberton, Ohio to Toronto, Ontario
