Porcelain 4-wire cable spacer, T-shaped.

Dimensions: 6 inches across, 5.25 inches tall, 2.25 inches thick.  There is a straight hole 1.125 inches in diameter that runs through the side of the long "arm."  The three holes in the front are 1/2 inch in diameter.

Porcelain 4-wire cable spacer, &-shaped.

Dimensions: 5.25 inches across x 4.5 inches tall x 2 inches thick.  There is a straight hole 3/4 inches in diameter through the long "arm" of these.  The four holes in the front are 1/2 inches in diameter.

Where used: Several of these were found in the obsolete materials bin of an electric company office near Guelph, Ontario, Canada.

Notes: The four white spots on each insulator are the firing rests.

Dimensions: 5.875 inches across, 5.5 inches tall, 1.25 inches thick at the thickest part.

Plastic 4-wire spacer, diamond shaped

Dimensions: 5.75 inches across x 4.875 inches tall x 1.625 inches thick at the thickest part.  The three small holes in the front are 3/8 inches in diameter.  The large hole in the front is 3/4 inches in diameter.  A hole running through the center of the side is 5/8 inches in diameter.

On the back, there are numbers inside a circular slug plate.  The markings are in the corners of the insulator and include the numbers "88," "89," "90," and "92."  Presumably, these are the years the mold was used with the earliest date possibly being when the mold was made.

Spacer #8
Polyurethane 4-wire spacer, delta shaped. This piece looks similar to spacer #1 but with an indentation in the center and an extra wire groove.

Dimensions: 4-11/16" height x 1-1/4" thickness. Holes are 13/16" in diameter. The end saddle grooves have a 11/32" diameter curve.

Marking: From a 1991 catalog page, it appears the insulator has a PLP logo marking.

Maker: Preformed Line Products, Cleveland, OH

Color: Grey (Sky)

Notes: This is Preformed Line Products catalog No. 5060100. They call it a Cable Separator. It weighs 10 oz. "High dielectric strength suitable for up to 750 volts."

 

Spacer #9.
Polyurethane 4-wire spacer, delta shaped. The outline of this piece is shaped like Spacer #8 but with a 1" diameter hole through the top and three 5/8" diameter holes through the bottom. There is no hole through the side like in Spacer #8.

Dimensions: 4-7/16" total height, 1-1/4" wide.

Marking: From a 1991 catalog, it appears the insulator has PLP logo marking and P/N 5060150 incuse into the inside.

Maker: Preformed Line Products, Cleveland, OH

Color: Grey (Sky), Black

Notes: The grey version of this is Preformed Line Products catalog No. 5060150. The black version of this is catalog No. 5060150-B. "High dielectric strength suitable for up to 750 volts." It weighs 7 oz.

Spreader #10

4.5 inches wide x 5.25 inches tall x 2 inches thick.

There is a hole that goes through the side of one arm.

One of these showed up for sale on eBay on May 13, 2007 from a seller in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada who found it in a warehouse for the local power company.
